Unhelpful Help

I am using XP Home, all was going reasonably well until I
installed SP1. Now I have lost ALL help information. The
Help window still opens, but no matter what I enter in the
search box I get no results.

Possibly related, because it also started after SP1, is
that the dial-up icon that usually appears in the tray has
gone. I can still connect, but the only way to disconnect
is to pull the RJ11 plug at the back of the computer,
awkward!

Any enlightenment much appreciated.
