Hey gil welcome to the party... well all is said and
done..and I figured a mild short way to fix this whole
mess... after many hours of banging my head on all the
machines..and doing everything under the sun I got fed
up.. the machine that has the printer attached to it (xp
pro) the one that couldn't be accessed from any other
machine. I spent many hours doing this and doing that
going through and editing every setting that i could
find.. switching back and fourth from clasic to simple..
yadda yadda yada.. policy this and that... I finally just
went to the user accounts... turned on the "guest"
account and then went to the users setting and removed
password on it.. Just a simple click of the *&*&^&^%
button, that was that!!!!!... went to the other machines
and BANG there was all the access after a simple click of
save password and clicking OK with no password.. user
acount for it .. which should be greyed out..but if not
will be simply "machine name\guest" and leave the password
blank.. sorry for this being so long winded..but after
many days working around this *(&^%^ issue... think its
well deserved =) as for the printer which was the main
concern.. yes its there and works fine after all of this..
now it's just a matter of making the Printer machine
secure from people just clicking the guest account .. so
go back and try adding a password? then go back to the
machines and add the same password when it asks. this
might do it? still working on it and will check out some
of the fixes that you described in those links.. maybe a
combination of this info.. and what was written will bring
these machines back to "HAHA" normal. tc =)
