View Full Version : Saved Share password - how to clear it?

Hello,
Two Windows XP SP1 laptops. Cat5 crossover cable
scenario. Sharing works great. But when the
users 'checks' the box to remember the username/password
they typed in to access the other machines share, it
WORKS the first time (because the username/password ARE
correct), but after a reboot, it no longer works.
Under permissions we have 'Everyone' set to have Full
Access.

Problem is, it is still 'saved' thus never re-asks for
the username and password again. Just keeps denying them
access.
No configuration change inbetween when it works and when
it doesnt, just a reboot.

My question is,
1. is this a known bug? is there a patch?
2. How do you clear the saved username and password from
network shares so it will re-ask them for user/pass?
3. Anyone have any other advise to solve this problem?

I can instruct my users to do a manual map, using "net
use" at the command prompt, but this is a lengthy and
complicated command for my users to have to type in every
time.
Thing is, when using 'net use' , it DOES work, even after
being denied access through 'my network places'. They can
then re-access that share. So i do not think it is a
configuration issue, its an issue with them checking that
box to save the username/password they typed in to access
that share.

I know its not very secure to let them check the box,
but users are users, not to mention its already been
done,....now how do I undo it?! heh

Thanks for any help! Sorry for the long post.
