cannot delete empty folder

I have an empty folder ( not a system folder ) that I cannot delete , I
receive the error message " Error: Cannot delete file : cannot read from the
source file or disk"

I have tried deleting from within windows , tried booting in safe mode and
deleting , tried from the command prompt within windows and tried booting to
the command prompt and deleting . For some strange reason this folder
just wont go away . It is totally empty .

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated .

Try booting into recovery console and renaming the folder first, then delete
it.
