View Full Version : Internet Connection Sharing (Wirless) with Internal DSL

First, thanks to all who read.
I am about to pull my hair out with this one.
Here's the situation:
I have a PC with an internal DSL modem, running Windows 98SE. I would
like to share that internet connection via a WAP to my new laptop,
which came 54g wireless ready, and is running Windows XP Pro.
I am getting mixed opinions about WHAT sort of hardware I need, and
how to set up the software.

Yesterday I bought a Linksys WAP, hooked it into my on-board Ethernet
card on the PC, and enabled Internet Connection Sharing on the PC.
My laptop now recognized the wireless signal, but is not able to
communicate with the PC, or share it's internet.

From what I have read on the WWW, I am doing SOMETHING wrong (if this
is even a legit setup), I just can't figure out what. Info has been
incomplete at best.

So, should I:
1. Just buy an external Ethernat DSL modem and ditch the internal?
2. Upgrade my PC to Windows XP and I will have better success?

ANY help would be MUCH appreciated.
Many thanks!
~PG
