View Full Version : How to enable form autocomplete and password remember
Sharon,
Thanks for your reply. The problem is not based on the web
site. Eg., I log on to my AT&T wireless accounts on a
windows 2000 account at work and Windows XP at home. At
work, on going to the login page, I just double click in
the log in name field. I can see my login name. When I
select it, my password field picks up the related
password. On the windows XP machine, it never remembers
any log in names or passwords, even though I have
autocomplete for forms switched on.
thanks!

Thanks for the extra info Ben. One more question. Is the login page for the
AT&T service a web page? If yes....
I have SBC's DSL service setup with a wireless router. The PPPOE
authentication is setup in the router's configuration and internet access is
immediate. However, on occasion when I go to the SBC home page, I am
challenged with a login request for user name/password. The SBC page has
boxes to check for the info to be remembered but yet the challenge still
appears every once in a while. Remembering passwords works consistently at
other sites, so I feel that the inconsitency at SBC is a forced login
initiated by their server on occasion or it is a glitch in their
authentication.
Does that sound similar to what happens with your home machine? Suggestion:
try removing the cookies for the AT&T sites. I find that if I remove the
cookies from the SBC site and let it create a new one that the login window
doesn't appear for a few days.
If on the other hand your AT&T logon is a network connections item, take a
look in Adminstrative Tools> Services. Change the startup type for Protected
Storage to Automatic (this tip from MVP Kelly Theriot's website).

Sharon,
I checked what your recommended. I already have
the "automatic" choice in the services.
This is definitely not a web page related problem. I never
have problems retrieving information on web forms where
the field names are the same. (e.g., best buy store
locator - entering post code). My problem is that in the
windows XP environment autocomplete feature for web forms
is not enabled in spite of enabling it from the internet
explorer tools-internet options-content-- ... route.
thanks anyway.
