Having Trouble Configuring Network between W98 and XP

I have a number of old PCs that are Windows 98 and
Windows 2000. I had a home network between me and the
kids. Last year I purchased my first XP for the kids.
I'm still not able to get that recognized by the
network. I ran the XP network wizard, set ip addresses,
but still no luck. Very disappointing that I've not had
any luck with this. Any one been through this experience?
