I've got a new user who will be using their personal
laptop (XP Pro) on our Win2k domain LAN over the next few
months.
1) Once I've given him a domain account and joined his
computer, will I have to do the Win2k Pro client setup
routine (logging in as domain user once/logging in as
admin/copying pre-existing user profile to new domain user
profile) or has XP made any improvements to this part of
the job?
2) I've read about cached logon credentials - does the
cache contain the 10 most recent logons (any user) or the
10 most recent user logons? Does this information ever
expire, as this user may be offsite for weeks at a time.
(What's the best practice for a case like this?)
3) When at home, he does simple sharing with a friend on a
workgroup. How will this be affected by his membership in
our domain, and is there a common workaround for this?
4) Once his time with our company is up, can I just make
the computer a member of a workgroup again, putting him
back to the way he was before?
Thanks much, in advance.
