View Full Version : Logoff and Shutdown screens now have different look after installing VPN software

I have a new PC with XP Home. When I first used it, the look of the
"log off" and "shut down" screens were basically a box with two (log
off) or three (shut down) choices that you would click on (not radio
buttons but the same idea). I assume that this is the default look of
these screens. However, after I installed Cisco VPN software, the
"log off" and "shut down" screens changed with more choices and the
choices turned from two or three buttons into a drop down box. Can
anyone explain this, and how (if I decide to) to change it back to the
"default" look?
Thanks in advance, Tom Horner

See "How to Change the Logon Window and the Shutdown Preferences"

My thanks to Thorsten for the answer below. It turns out that when I
tried to do this, a warning message came up saying that an installed
program had "disabled" the default look (and the ability to
"fast-switch" users). I investigated, and it turns out the program
shown in the message is one that was installed when I installed Cisco
VPN (virtual tunnel) that I use to access my production boxes at work
(I am a production DBA). Thanks for helping me solve the mystery. I
will have to live with this because I cannot uninstall VPN (I need it
for my work).

You are welcome. I already thought of that this would come to a
decision between using the Welcome screen or VPN.
