I am currently trying to upgrade a station in our office
from Windows 98 SE to Windows XP Pro. I started at noon,
and it is still installing 6 hours later.
Is this normal? It seems to be advancing, but something
seems wrong since it is taking so long.
The station is a Pentium II, 350 mhz, 256m ram, 56x cdrom
6 gb hd, etc.
Thanks - btw - my email above won't work, as it is my
station that is crunching!!

Don't think your computer meets the minimum requirements for WinXP. It may
load (eventually) and it may run (poorly), but I think you need an more
powerful system to enjoy WinXP.

It did finally finish, and the system does meet the
minimum requirements. I just didn't expect it to take 7
hours! Seems to doing fine, printer drivers are a little
fishy in ACAD 2004, but everything else seems to be
good.

It's normal if you've initiated the upgrade from DOS and have not loaded
smartdrive.
