Suddenly for no reason I am aware of, Windows XP Pro on
my PC runs Chkdsk on startup. It has done this the last
four times I booted up. How can I prevent this?

Go to Start > Run and type: CMD , and hit enter. Then type in:
chkntfs /x c: , and hit enter. Reboot your computer.
