icons on the desktop after a bootup and the icons are there, a 60 second
wait is required before a program can be opened from them. This is a clean
install on a new motherboard and CPU.The boot time to the icons appearance
on the desktop is fast,it is the 60 second wait until the icons are useable
that is annoying.I have clean installed XP many times and this never was a
problem with them.I'm also loading the same programs I did with the other
installs.Would like suggestions that will solve this for me.Thank you.

Jon I know about that Hotfix and thought they made a patch to fix the
problem and seeing I just did a fresh SP1 install there was no need to
remove it.On your reply I will remove.Thanks.

Motherboard drivers, bad motherboard, defrag, if that has
been done, format and reinstall. If that doesn't work, get
a warranty replacement on the mobo.

They are working on making a fix for the fix, I guess
they'll call it 811493a or something.

It may be worthwhile to take at a look at the mobo config.

Go to the manufacturer's web and see if they have any updates for your mobo
and chipset. Apply them.

Sometimes OS does not recognize correctly your mobo/chipset resources.
Updating will ensure your OS is told the correct config.
