windows XP prof. networking to windows 98

Hello, I have tried every configuration for networking
windows 98 to windows xp prof. I have a Linksys router
and I am able to connect to the internet on either
machine, but I cannot connect the two drives. I have
tried to ping the two computers unsuccessfully. Anyone
willing to help me would be greatly appreciated.

The problem could be that firewall programs are blocking access to
each computer from the other one.
