I have problem using the built in IBM software for
managing the wireless network settings. If I enable the
IBM software it disables the XP software and does not
work. If I tell XP to use its software to manage the
network connection and reboot the IBM software then
starts to work. If I reboot again it stops working. I
then have to tell XP to run the connection, reboot, and
then the IBM software starts to work again.

Anyone have any idea what is going on? IBM is no help.

there are many different flavors of T40's out there. some with centrino,
some with IBM dual band a+b, some with Ciso b. which T40 do you have? Are
you using encryption? are you using the Aegis client as well that ships with
some of the T40's?

Problem solved. Thanks for your help.

IBM shipped the T40 with the built in wireless card
without enabling WLAN Transport in network protocols.
