I am looking for a book/manual that explains with
pictures and text how to manage, access, and use files
and folders. Your help is appreciated.

The Windows XP Resource Kit has some information on explorer. What
specifically are you looking to do with them?

Mark, for basic coverage of these tasks I would suggest the Help and Support
file that comes with XP. Under "Pick a Help Topic" select "Windows Basics."
On the next screen, click on "Core Windows tasks." Many to topics here to
choose from including those you have asked about.

Another good resource for brand new computer users is the Step by Step
series. These beginner books have exercises outlined in the text of the
book. The publication includes a CD that will place files on the hard drive
to be used in conjunction with the exercise. The Dummy series have
traditionally been good launching points for beginners as well, however I
haven't seen their book for XP.

For intermediate/advanced users, the Inside Out series of books are worth a
look.
