Network problem

Hello!!

I had a basic set up at home with two dell computers
networked and a internet connection sheared using Dsl
with verizon. Everything worked well for years.
I decided to switch from verizon dsl to cablevision
Optimum online.
Now I tried to share the internet connection again and
not only I can't share it but there is no way I can
network the computers again.
Every time I reset the network connections to start fresh
I get this 1394 net adapter in the way (on both
computers)???.
Please anybody with an answer?
