View Full Version : Java video won't play

I have a problem viewing java video's online.
I went to a website and morphed 2 photo's into one.
When I click on the link to watch the morph as a moving video, the new
window opens, but instead of showing the video morph like it used to, all I
get now is a rectangle (portrait mode) with a small white square in the
top-left corner.
In the small white square there are three symbols, as follows:
Top-left = red square
Centre-right = green circle
Bottom-Left = blue triangle.
This did not use to happen, but I don't know what to change to get the
moving video back.
I have emailed the webmaster, who assures me that it is working correctly.
Are there any settings on my computer that I could change to rectify this
error?
I am using Windows XP Home Edition, with Microsoft Internet Explorer
6.0.2600.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
John.

You might want to give some specifics, like the website involved.
There really is no such thing as a "java video," so that could be a bit
misleading. There certainly is Java, as in java software or a java
player or java routine. But graphics have no java component, per se.
They're still graphics. Some morphing software will indeed produce a
video. But most morphing software produces an animated graphic.
Knowing what the format is of your "video" would be an important step.
The square-circle-triangle is extremely common and usually refers to the
absence of a renderer or a codec on your personal machine. If the
"video" you refer to is an .avi, .mpg, .mov then you'd want to consider
one set of conditions. But if it's an animated graphic like a .gif or
something similar, you'd be looking at a different approach for
resolution.

Go to Start | Run and type
regedit
and click Okay. Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Plugins\Extension
and expand it. Highlight the extension you are working with (,jpg?). Click
File | Export and give it a name you will remember in case you want to
restore it. Then right click the extension and select Delete.
