View Full Version : Can I disable the LAN Internet access on my PC and enable it when I want?

Hi,
is there a way to temporarily disable the Internet access and then enable it
? Is it possible to do it without 3rd party firewall programs? (I have a LAN
based Internet access as a part of a big network).

Thanks in advance!

Valentin

You could remove the Default Gateway from the TCP/IP properties.

That would remove connectivity to all remote subnets, including the
Internet.
You'd only have access to machines on your local LAN.
This may cause problems if your 'big network' spans multiple subnets
connected by routers.
You'd loose connectivity to all the remote subnets of your LAN too.
That may not be an issue, unless perhaps DNS, WINS or DC servers were
remote, in which case you might loose access to your local servers because
name resolution or authentication services were unavailable.

To work around that, you could set up static routes. Yuckky.

you may have many options: 1. create a batch file to re-setup internet
settings; 2. release the ip.
