Maybe my kids were doing something untoward but whenever
I open a Word document there is no button bar across the
top. I've tried shift and all the keys, control and them
all, shaft/control and them all as well as Alt and them
all. Whilst I've discovered quite a few useful tips the
original button bar is missing. Maybe there is another
key command to retrieve it or DOES MS WORD HAVE A VIRUS???
Any ideas?

Hi,
Try right clicking on the grey area of MS Word, where the buttons were and
that should bring up a listing of toolbar buttons that you can bring back.
