Remote (Connect Network Registry) Registry troubles with XP Pro

I can't seem to get a Remote Registry connection under XP regedit ( "Connect Network Registry" function)
It always ask for user & password I give in the admin account but I allways get a "Access is Denied" message
I tried to remote register from XP to several other XPs, 2000s, 2000 server & NTs all with the same result
When I use my 2000 to remote register I can access all the NTs

Checked:

- The Remote Registry Service is started on al our PCs
- "HKLM\SYSTEM\Currentcontrolset\control\securepipese rvers\winreg" has Read permitions to "Administrators" & "Local
service"
- We don't use Domains (Novell network) all our PCs are Workgroup based
- (I could remote register 2000 pc's from XP in the past)

What I found out till now:

If I first use "net use \\targetpc /user:administrator" (only possible if I have shared (ore shared in the past)
a directory on the target pc otherwise I get the error message "unknown user or bad password")
Then I can remote register a target NT machine BUT I still have troubles with XP & 2000
I can "Connect Network Registry" with XP and can only see the HKLM & HKU Keys but cannot access/browse the keys.

Anyone an Idea?

thx in advance
