Hi,

Just upgraded from 98 to xp home and now when trying to
download a file, or just surfing the web, the connectivty
has drastically changed.

When i was using 98 i always connected at 56k ,now i am
lucky to get 49k.

I was always able to get a constant download stream , but
now it starts, stops for up to a min sometimes then
continues , stops etc...

I upgraded the modem driver (using a modem blaster
external) and it doesnt seem to help. Looked at my port
settings and they are at 56000.

Anyone have any suggestions??

Assuming that you're in the US, Win98 must have been reporting the port
speed. AFAIK, the FCC still limits actual connect speeds to 53 kbps.

Frank,

For instance I'd be downloading a file and while
downloading it would just stop downloading, start, stop
etc..

Its not my isp or internet traffic becuase it was never
this bad while using 98. It began exactly after i upgraded
to xp (all drivers are current)

This can happen if the server you are downloading from is very busy. Have
you tried at 3 AM?

Well no havent tried at that time, but it wouldnt matter
from what ever site i visited it always did the same
thing, even web pages in general load slower than ever
because of constant interuptions.

Any settings that I am overlooking?
