I would like to connect a win98 laptop to a winxp laptop
using usb, can someone plese give me some suggestions,as i
have tried and i cannot see each of the machines on the
other. thanks for your help

You can get a pair of USB Ethernet adapters, install one on each
computer, connect them to each other using a crossover Ethernet cable,
and run XP's Network Setup Wizard on both computers.

There are also direct USB-to-USB networking cables which come with
their own networking software.
