At the windows dos prompt type CD\ to put you into the root directory of C:
drive,
Install a new disk in A: drive and type FORMAT A:
When it is finished, type DIR A: to see that it is formatted with nothing on
it.
If you want to make it bootable, then type SYS A:

No, something is not quite right, this was just a test to see if it does
what you tell it to do.
Most new floppies are already formatted and should not show any files on
them when you type Dir while in A: drive.

Hi again, Sharon,

Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, and Command Prompt.
(This is your Windows Dos Prompt.)
You can Left click and drag the Icon to the desktop and click create a
shortcut here.
Then all you have to do is double click the Icon to go to the Dos Prompt.
