My home network is not working properly. There are two
computers connected via a hub on a Microsoft Windows
network in a workgroup called "Workgroup". All network
hardware and software appears to be set up and working
properly. The hub is connected to the Internet via a
cable modem, and both computers can successfully log on
to the internet. Each computer can ping the other
successfully using the other's IP address. But they
cannot ping each other using their computer names (name
resolution does not seem to work). One computer
(Sfalaptop is its computername), can see both computers
in Workgroup, but when it clicks on the remote computer
(D866bl01 is its computername) within Workgroup, it gets
the error message "\\D866bl01 is not accessible. You
might not have permission to use this network resource.
Contact the administrator of this server to find out if
you have access permissions. The network path was not
found." I should mention that administrators are logged
on to both computers.
The other computer (D866bl01) cannot see sfalaptop in
Workgroup. It can only see itself.
Can you suggest a remedy for this problem?
Thank you.
