i burned my laptop and have ordered a replacement. How
can i install my copy of Home XP after it has been
activated on my old laptop, which is now trash.... the
hard drive has been removed and re-formated.....
eliminating the previous install of XP...... i no longer
have the product ID number that i got when i installed the
XP on the old laptop......

Hi Jim,

As long as it is a retail version, you should have no problem installing =
and activating it on the new system. You may need to call in your =
activation, but all you need to do is tell them exactly the same story =
you just related.

Of course, if you no longer have your Product Key (you were supposed to =
keep that, remember?), then you will need to call anyways to get a =
replacement. 1-800-936-5700

Now, if you saved a few dollars by buying an OEM version, then you will =
need to spend a few to purchase a replacement, as OEM licensed versions =
generally are not transferable to a new machine, regardless of the =
reason.
