View Full Version : time clock problem with XP home edition

I have an HP pavillion notebook with Windows XP home
edition. The time feature is wacky. I am not accessing
a server, and the time keeps adjusting itself on various
days. Sometimes it adjusts itself for 15 minutes behind,
sometimes and hour behind, sometimes two or three hours
behind. It's very frustrating because I'm on the
standard Pacific Time zone in Los Angeles, and every time
I keep checking and changing the time, it changes it back
to various different times. Please help. I would be
VERY grateful.

If you are consistently losing time, the clock is slowing and stopping. May
be a weak battery on the motherboard.

Not so! Battery is not used when power is on.

The poster did not say the clock was acting erratically "only while the
computer was on".

When the BIOS battery goes bad it is bad. It is not like a car battery or
flashlight battery that get weak. When a BIOS battery goes bad it is not
weak. It's dead.
