Hi Dehlia,

What you need to do is goto start, control panel, quick launch and put
a tick in the box.

Great - thanks. A further hint, if you don't mind. I'm trying to
order my shortcuts there according to my needs, so I've numbered them
01..02..03 etc. But in spite of it some of them turn up where they
like - is there a better way of doing it?

On the Quick Launch bar drag the shortcut to where you want it. If the
taskbar is not locked, you can drag it to either side or the top with the
handle on its left end. I keep mine on the left side with Always on Top and
AutoHide checked.
