My son is running a Dell with XP Professional. He was at
Western Michigan University and was able to connect to
their connection.
Over the summer he was able to plug directly into my
router without any reconfiguration and connect through
wide open west.
He is now attending Eastern Michigan University where the
apartments he is living in has cable direct connect to
their server using your own modem which the University
instructs to set your internet connections to allow it to
get its own address.
I have reconfiqured his machine exactly as the directions
stated through his modem and the EMU's direction. He still
cannot connect. When I run ipconfig it shows an incorrect
I/P addres which in the direction it tells me after that
to run ipconfig/release, this brings up the same
information.
I tried running ipconfiq/renew and I get an reply "socket
blocked". His room mate is running XP also and both
machines are confiqured the same as much as I can tell. I
even used the other modem from his room mate and the
connection where the other computer connects but still can
not connect.
Any ideas?
Thanks
