Cannot ping XP machine..WHY?

I am running and ethernet 100mg network with static IP
addresses. I have an XP laptop that can Ping servers and
workstations on the domain, but i cannot ping that laptop
from the server or workstations. WHY??? I have sharing on
and all proper DNS,tcp/ip and WINS settings in properly.
This machine runs great on network and gets all its drive
mappings and works fine. I have a program that needs to
see this laptop using IP addressing from the server and it
cant.

My first guess would be a firewall.

Check XP's firewall is disabled on the LAN connection.
Also check for 3-rd party firewalls.

firewall mistakenly enabled on the LAN port perhaps?
