Hi Richard,
Yes you can, and essentially, the only ones who actually need that =
update know they need it. That is not meant to be a slight, just a means =
of making a point. I don't need that update any more than you do.

Hi Rick and Richard!
Rick, not running Visual Studio .Net? :o)
Richard, a bit more info:
..Net 1.0 does not create the user, .Net 1.1 does create the user account
with or without IIS being installed. It can only be deleted, not disabled.
Reasons for need:
When you run an ASP.Net application on a WebServer, not necessarily on your
local machine, that is the account the Web Server uses for
credentials/permissions.
ASP.NET is a programming framework built on the common language runtime that
can be used on a server to build powerful Web applications.
ASP.NET offers several important advantages over previous Web development
models: More information here:
http://docs.aspng.com/quickstart/aspplus/doc/whatisaspx.aspx
The ASP.NET worker process (Aspnet_wp.exe) should run with a different and
less privileged identity than the Windows default System identity.
This allows the process to run as a relatively untrusted user so that hosted
Web applications do not have administrative privileges and cannot compromise
the integrity of the server. More information here: http://tinyurl.com/aedb

Well I deleted the account already, but left the two=20
versions of net framework in add/remove yet.Was trying to=20
read up on net framework,my skills are on computer are=20
very limited(newbie).Just picked up this hobbie a couple=20
years ago.I thought this had something to do with another=20
problem I'm haveing with lsass.exe in windows task=20
manager.I have posted this problem earlier, and am still=20
waiting for a possible solution.It takes 10minutes to=20
load at 50-90cpu's in my account only.I have two other=20
accounts that load in 40sec. and are not affected.Once it=20
finishs,everything is fine.Even if I log out,then in=20
again,I have to endure this process all over again.I did=20
have a friend with XP HOME,and when I logged into his=20
account,on his computer,then windows task manager,his=20
listing in process was LSASS.EXE,in stead of small=20
letters like mine(lsass.exe).Anyway sorry for the lengthy=20
post.Thank you so much for your help, still learning.

Hi Richard,
Thanks for the feedback and no, these two issues are not related.
A suggested fix that seems to work on a regular basis without reloading the
system is to use Recovery Console and run a "chkdsk /r".
You Cannot Log On to Windows XP ....
