IDE is the name given to the plugs on the wide cables
that connect your internal drives. It has nothing to do
with exteral drives. As long as you have upgraded to xp
sp1 or you have the usb2 drivers for the component you
are instaling EG. install your new USB2 PCI Card then put
the disc you got with it in the rom drive and install the
drivers thay will instal practicly auto
One thing if your pc is old it may not be compatable
with USB2
