Is WindowsXP kernel the same as Windows 2000?

Exactly the same? No. For a list of some of the enhancements made to the
kernel in Windows XP see

It is a further evolution and enhancement of the NT kernel. The internal
version number for Windows 2000 was NT 5.0 and for XP it is NT 5.1
