I have recently purchased a second hand PC running XP
Pro. The intention was to include it on an existing
Windows 98 network, which uses a hub, Win Proxy and has a
broadband connection to the internet. However, despite
repeated attempts and following all the helpful advice on
this site, I have been unable to connect it successfully
to the network. I have tried swapping the cables and hub
ports and am I pretty sure that the problem lies with the
software. I have come to the conclusion that the only way
to get the PC to work on the network would be to remove XP
Pro and install 98. I know this seems a little silly, but
I can think of no other way. So, my question is what is
the best way to uninstall XP Pro to ensure that Win 98
will work correctly. Upgrading all the other pc's to XP
is simply too expensive, so unfortunately it is not an
option for me. I would be grateful for any advice.
