I knew I'd forget something :-/ I looked there, and all I can see is the
same items that were there before. There's also other screens with settings
about a 'default' network, but if that were it wouldn't there be default 1
or default 2,
I know that sounds silly, but wouldn;t there be two of them.

Will be back later tonight.

Thanks

hi there well im not sure but your problem may be more
serious when is ay serious i dont mean it will afect or
casue you any problems but i mena it may be very diifcult
rto remove the network icon shiwng up pls read the
follwing psot form another user on the win2k news group -

You have inserted, re-inserted, moved, removed, or swapped
your NIC card
across various PCI slots without first removing it from
the Device Manager.
That's a no-no. It results in a phantom NIC card evidenced
when another NIC
is installed and is reported as Adapter #2.

The "Set DEVMGR..." along with "View Hidden Devices" trick
may not work for
you. It didn't for me. The 'phantom' NIC card wasn't
really hidden. 'Non-
present' may indicate 'yanked', maybe not.

You've got half of your networking subsystem wanting to
access a now
phantom card and the other half accessing the current card
in the current
PCI slot.

It's going to be messy getting the extra Local Area
Connections and/or the
extra Adapters cleaned out of your registry.

I have an article that might point you in the right
direction.

http://www.sacpcug.org/archives/0303/tech0303.pdf

I don't know if any of the various registry cleaners will
find and clean
references to improperly removed hardware.

Well, I don't know, Jason. I was fooling around with it last night and even
though it was showing Wireless 1 inactive and Wireless 2 active, everything
seems to work okay. I was surprised, but I was able to do printing from the
laptop thru the main computer to which the printer is connected. Also was
able to access and manipulate files that were in the Shared Docs folders on
the main computer with the laptop.

I've also set the WEP encription to 128 bit and the two computers are still
talking to each other. I think I'm just going to leave well enough alone.

I still have to set the firewall up in the D-Link router though. That's
today's project.

Thanks for replying.
