I run Windows XP Pro, upgraded from 2000. I use AOL 8.0
plus as my ISP. Something is causing my internal modem to
fail, and it is a software issue, not a hardware issue (a
technician has verified all hardware is working
properly). When I reinstall Windows, everything works
fine for a while (although connection speeds aren't
great). But if I take my computer on the road and use a
different dial-up connection, the modem will eventually
first show a busy signal, then it will fail to connect
altogether on any phone line and I will again have to
reinstall Windows. Someone said that there is a conflict
in the registry file. I can't continue reinstalling
Windows once a month! Any ideas?
