I have an IBM Pentium-4 1.8GHz 256MB of RAM PC, LexMark
X73 All-In-One Printer/Scanner and Windows XP Home
Edition System with a broadband Internet cable for 15
months. Since than had never add any hardware or software
to the system.

Starting from 3 months ago, after MS has issued the SP1
automatic online upgrade. My system has experienced a lot
of unstable system problems:
.. The system goes down and reboots itself without
any error message.
.. Sometime very frequent and with numerous of
messages, such as:
.. "The systems has recovered form a serious error"
.. "Error caused by a Device Driver"
.. Asks to send the Error Report online to Windows
XP.
.. System error message "IRQL-NOT-LESS-OR-EQUAL" and
the system hang.

I would appreciate if you would kindly help me to
identify and resolved these problems.

sporadic reboots can sometimes indicate a faulty power supply. however, in
your case, i do not believe this to be likely. the "irql_not_less_or_equal"
error you describe (as well as a majority of other windows problems) is
almost always due to a corrupted/incompatible driver (plus, this is stated
in the other error message). have you updated all the drivers on your
machine? have you updated the machine's bios?
i would recommend performing these procedures as soon as possible.
ibm's website should have all the updated drivers for the hardware
components that came with your machine - you will have to visit the
manufacturers' websites for any other components you have changed/added to
find their drivers.

I have almost the same system and have no problems. I have downloaded and
installed all updates from IBM and MS. If you purchased your machine from
IBM you can always call their tech support.
The first thing I would do is to right click my computer, select properties,
then advanced and start-up and recovery settings. Remove the chechmark to
reboot on error. This will allow the machine to stop so that you can
investigate the error.
To teach yourself, go to google.com and search for IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR EQUAL.
Do the same at the microsoft site. Try the update connector at IBM for
possible updates.
