View Full Version : Screen Saver disappears at logon screen

On one of my computers, if a user is logged on and leaves, and the screen
saver comes on (followed by power management shut down of monitor), after
about 30 minutes to an hour, the screen saver disappears, the logon screen
becomes visible, and the sound plays as if someone had moved the mouse and
is preparing to logon. However, this happens EVERY time without fail...and
no one is near the mouse or computer. The screen saver does not come back
on at all, so when I come in to use it in the mornings, it is sitting at the
logon screen waiting for a user to be selected. This is on Windows XP
Professional.
I am not sure when this started, but it is annoying. I have checked and
double checked all power management and screen saver settings. No
hibernation of any kind is enabled in the BIOS or in Windows itself...
screen saver is set for 15 minutes and monitor power off after 30. (this is
the only power management option I take advantage of, don't shut down HD or
anything like that). I have changed the screensaver settings to apply
different times, disabled it, re-enabled it, to no avail.
And it does not seem to matter if the people logged in have any programs
running or not. If we just logon, don't open ANYTHING, and let it sit on
its own till screen saver comes on, it will still power the monitor back on
and display logon screen around 30 to 60 minutes after it went into
screensaver mode.
Any suggestions would be most welcome!
Thanks!
(PS I have a nother WXP Pro PC and it is fine...no problems at all, and both
PC's have latest windows service packs and windows updates)

I tried these but it still didn't seem to work. I then changed the windows
screen saver for the user having problems to BLANK SCREEN SAVER and we will
see how that goes. So far it seems to be working ok. She did have 3d
flower box setup, though I woudn't think that should matter.
