Hi. Setup: 3 computers running XP, networked, Vigor cable
router, linksys cable modem, dhcp, very fast cable
broadband. Problem: All has worked great for past year,
all of a sudden this weekend, streaming audio suffers a
buffer underrun after awywhere from 2 - 25 miuntes, and
the connection is dropped. I reestablish, same thing
happens. This occures on all 3 computers, occurs on
several different internet radio stations (all 128k), and
occurs if I use wimanp or WMP - Doesn't matter. Cable Co.
says all ok, I believe this, email & web brousing scream,
and bandwidth place rates connection as 'fantastic.' I
suspect router, upgraded to latest firmware - nothing
improved. Put 1 computer into DMZ, same thing. Router is
set to default settings, which has been fine for a year,
till now. Did all the robooting stuff on router, nothing
changed. I will bypass the router tomorrow and see if
this isolates it to the router, but does anyone have any
ideas on this? I really don't get all that packet stuff.
If this is a hint: when listening to streaming audio, you
hear the 'click' when it is rebuffering - for example
when using winamp and mini brouser is open. Now, I hear
zip, and it just disconnects. Any help/ideas greatly
appreciated.
