While researching my Search problem, I discovered that I am having a
VBScript problem as well. It looks like any screen that needs the VBScript
engine to work, doesn't. I can't even open the Help and Support page.

The way I found I had this VBScript error was when I tried to fix my Search
problem, I was told about this VD script that would fix my problem. Well,
while trying to run this script, I received the following error:

Can't find script engine "VBScript" for script "C:\. . .
..\xp_fix_search_error.vbs."

I built a 2nd machine with XP trying to find any file I should have and
everything looks OK.

Any help or ideas are most welcomed.

Richard

Hi Richard,

You speak of Help and Support issues, yet mention Doug's search vb script.
If you are having that particular problem: Depending on your version of
TweakUI, run it, go to the Desktop settings and put the check mark back in
Search Results.

Or make the manual edit:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\
Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace\{e17d4fc0-5564-11d1-83f2-00a0c90dc849}\" Search
Results Folder

As per not being able to run VBScripts, check your settings under Folder
Options/File Types and here for enabled:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows Script Host\Settings]

Also check for a policy set to disable super hidden extensions. Good luck!
