View Full Version : ADSL connection problems

Andrew

I have upgraded my PC from 98 to XP. Everything works as before apart from
my ADSL connection. I am on a small network that uses TCP/IP and I can see
everyone and they can see me. When I start Internet Explorer though it just
cannot find a web site.
Can anyone suggest some obvious mistake that I may have made?
Also what is a bridge in connection with network connections?

Thanks

Andrew

Please don't post the same message separately in multiple groups - this is a
waste of bandwidth and causes those of us trying to help to have to read the
same message multiple times (many of us monitor 15-20 groups).

If you think it is necessary to post the same message in multiple groups
(and 2 or 3 at most is best), then put all of the group addresses in the
same message header, separated by a comma. This will allow it to be read in
several groups without appearing as a "new" post in each to someone who has
already read it in another
group.

Thank you

Why is it unhelpful, just because it didn't answer his specific question? He
posted 10 separate messages to 10 different groups, and I was HELPFULLY
informing him that this isn't the correct way to go about things.

May I suggest you lurk, and read, a little before posting, then you'll see
that helpful posts, like the one I made, are commonplace to inform posters
of the correct way to post. Your post was a waste of bandwidth, mine was
not.

Which ten groups you muppet?
I posted to this and the XP help group. Get your facts right, and get a
life.

Your post showed up in 10 different groups - suggest you're not quite so
rude and get your facts straight. No matter, that's what kill-files were
invented for. You obviously don't want assistance, and you won't be getting
any from me, not now, nor in the future.

1. Don't post to so many newsgroups.

2. If you must post to more than one, keep it to three or less and put all
of the newsgroups in the Newsgroup field of one message, separated by
semi-colons. That way if someone reads the message in one newsgroup OE will
mark it as read in the other two.

I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your original question. Amethyst
probably doesn't either.
