Where are the messages going?

In the last 10 hours at least 10000 messages have gone from this newsgroup.
Most of the messages have been from the older end, but quite a few have been
very recent postings, i.e. the last 24 hours.
Anyone know if this is supposed to be happening?

I understand MS is having problems with the NG servers because of the large volume of traffic
attributed to the SWEN worm. That was from one of the MS-MVPs on a PocketPC news group that I
monitor...
