Preformance options change themselves

I have XP Home. I have right clicked my computer,
properties, advanced, performance settings, visual
effects tab, and unchecked "animate windows when
minimizing and maximizing". After several days, this
option will "check" itself and it will take longer for
windows to minimize and maximize.

Has this ever happened to anybody?

I have Tweak UI installed. I have made sure that all the
options do not contradict the above.

I did not hear about this yet. It may be caused by that you used the
System Restore feature to restore a former Windows configuration or
that you use a third-party tweaking tool which auto-resets this option
from time to time. Another possible cause: the user account is
defective and the setting is not stored.
