config help please

[Johnnie Scott]

I have a 512 memory with an athlon 1 g chip. When playing music from disk
or cd seem to get hang if another program opens or the mouse is moved. Is
there any way with XP I can change config. or something. the machine also
hangs about 3 times in an hour. Please help my blood pressure is climbing

Something running in the background is interfering. Check for viruses. Check
for scumware by browsing to http://aumha.org/a/noads.htm and waiting 10-15
seconds for it to check your system. See the Computer Health tips on
http://aumha.org/win5/a/health.htm. Empty your Temporary Internet Files,
History, and Temp folders then empty the Recycle Bin and reboot. See MS-MVP
