View Full Version : Can not format 127GB partition of a 200 GB harddrive
John
December 6th 03, 09:54 AM
I installed a Western Digital JB 200 Gb Hard drive using
a Promise Technology Controller card.
I partition the hard drive into two drives.
I formated and install Windows XP on the smaller
partition.
Later I tried to format the larger -- 127 GB --
partition.
It begins formating. Things seem to be going okay;
however, at the end of the formating I get the message
that the formating of drive D could not be completed.
That it was not able to format drive D.
I disabled the antivirus before beginning the formating.
What am I missing. Please help.
Thanks,
JOhn

John;
Partition to NTFS instead of FAT32.
Windows XP can not partition that large of a FAT 32 partition.

Sounds like the BIOS does recognise this large hard disk. Download and
install an update to fix this.
