Hi Folks,
My dick Cleanup tool has stops responding while
compressing old files. I have found the fix from the
Microsoft database but I need to backup before I correct
the problem. Windows XP Home was loaded on my computer
by Dell when it was purchased so I don't have the Windows
XP disc on which to manually load the Backup Utility. Do
you have any suggestions? Do I contact Dell? Will they
send me a disk?
Thanks,
David

David;
When did Dell stop shipping the OS CD with computers?
How long have you had the computer?
Check the invoice and contact Dell.
If you have had computer less than 30 days, Dell should be able to
send a CD (possible longer).

Generally the fix is safe, I have never heard of issues with the fix.
However it is always a good idea to have back-ups of important data.

Here is a link that simplifies the process of resolving the compressed
file issue:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Line 48, Right column "Disk Cleanup - Compress..."
Save on Desktop.
Double click the icon once downloaded.
The icon can then be discarded.
