I saw on the Microsoft Website in downloads that it
mentions something about being eligible for an upgrade to
XP if you are running 98, 98se, or ME. Does this mean an
upgrade at no cost??? Does anyone know????

No that just means that the mentioned products are eligible to be upgraded
to XP. You still have to buy it.

No, means you can "purchase" the "upgrade version" for about $100.00 as
opposed to the "full" version for $190.00; that is if your Win98 or ME is a
retail version and not an OEM version that was installed by the dealer.
Since the upgrade version and the full versions are both complete versions,
you just get a price break because you have a "previous qualifying operating
system" (Win98 or ME retail version).

Basically it means that if you have Win95 you have to buy the Full Edition
oof WinXP, not the Upgrade Edition.

What does that have to do with Win95 as she mentioned nothing of it, =
especially in the subject line? She wanted to know if "Upgrade" in the =
way she read it, meant that it would be at "no cost", of which it isn't. =
The upgrade is $99 for XP Home and $199 for Pro. Besides, if she had 95, =
she could still use an XP upgrade disk to install XP, but it can only be =
a full clean install and not an actual upgrade. It is a glitch on the =
part of MS that this can be performed.

That is not entirely correct. You can't upgrade Win 95 with a XP upgrade,
but you can do a clean install with a XP Upgrade, using the 95 disk as a
qualifying product.
