Nice to see some people here today. Perhaps some of you
might have an idea on either or both of these issues:
1 - Im on a 2k domain with a mixture of XP pro and 2k
boxes as workstations. When I implement a group policy on
the domain for a user, if i log onto a 2kpro box, that
policy is enforced and works. If i log onto an XPpro box,
logon is successful but the policy is not applied or
enforced. I have this happening with 2 different clients
at 2 different sites now. I made a post about this some
time ago with more information from a tool i ran from the
Xp boxes.. it was some diagnostic program and it came back
with something like "No RSID information" or something of
that nature. Anyone?
2 - On this same network (2k server, mixed environment),
the 2 newest XPpro boxes that i have put on the domain
seem to disconnect themselves from the network after maybe
20-30 minutes of idling. Thats annoying but not even the
problem. The problem is that when you go to access a
network resource after idling this long, it prompts you
for logon credentials. You try the credentials that you
are already logged on with, but it tells you that it
already tried those credentials and that it cant use
those. My options at this point are to log off and back
on, or to use different network credentials when it
prompts me. Either way will return me to normal usage
abilities (until next time the machine goes idle).
I'm certainly open to ideas, suggestions, and whatnot if
you want to take a shot.
