MY Computer was pre-installed with windows xp home
edition, in the system properties box I clicked the
computer name tag and the info inside is correct except
for one it displayed the WORKGROUP well I do not belong
to a workgroup I do I change this ?

This is normal, if you have any type of Network connection, even dial up.
It has no effect on your system, and there is no need to change it.
