Can anyone tell me how to turn off the messenger service?
I am sooooo tired of this popping up every minute or so.

To turn off the Messenger Service...

Start/Control Panel, click Administrative Tools, click Services.
Go down to "Messenger".
Right click "Messenger" and select Properties.
Hit the Stop Button under Service Status section
Then under Start-up select DISABLE
Click OK and follow prompts

Turning off the messenger service only hides the problem--your pc is still
exposed to the internet.
Use a firewall to block ports 135-139 to fix the problem.

Applying the WinXP firewall to the connection should stop the Messenger
Service messages.
