View Full Version : Empty Folders Question
GreyTop
December 6th 03, 10:00 AM
I was prowl ling in the documents and settings today and under default
user Wallpaper there was 366 empty directories dated for every day of
the month starting back 366 days from today. I did delete them and
there does not seem to be any ill effects, however I am wondering what
the reason for them being there in the first place.
Any takers on this one.
By the way this is on two computers that I have set up as a network
with hub.

I've wondered the same thing. I haven't deleted mine yet. I think it's so we
can place a different picture in each folder and have it change wallpaper
automatically each day. - One folder and one picture for each day of the
year. I could be dead wrong. But that's my take on it.
Really though, there are much easier ways to accomplish the same thing.

There's two of you with this? Wonder what program does this? Any hints of a
wallpaper app in Add/Remove Programs? Folder creation dates matching up with
the folders of programs installed on the same day? Odd that the folders are
empty... Subscription service for a wallpaper delivered everyday, perhaps?
May want to peek in the microsoft.public.windowsxp.customize group. Someone
there may know what program sets up like this.

Sharon, you sound surprised that there are 2 of us with these folders. I
would have thought everybody had them. You know, that it was just part of XP
Home. I have had these folders since installing XP Home a few weeks ago. I
just thought they were part of the package.

Terry, I am surprised. That's why I wondered if these were a part of
something the OEM added. I had a retail copy of XP Home on a laptop that I
gave to my brother earlier this year. I don't remember ever having those
folders.

Okay, but will have to call him tomorrow night. He's asleep now. Will let
you know what I find out.

Nope. No such folders on his XP Home. Didn't think he would find those
folders as I don't remember seeing them in the one year that I ran XP Home
on that system. Check for wallpaper program, screensaver or news delivery
type of programs on your setups.
